Doing Some Community Stuff - A Couple of Easy and Inexpensive Things You Can Do with Us!

You hear it all of the time - do more for your community. You probably think about it too. You wish that you had more time, money, energy, etc...for various local community giving/outreach options. Then, you hear about some of the awesome things others are doing and you experience MAJOR guilt for having put your charitable thoughts on the back burner. I get it. I have been there too....

How can one find a great charity and feel like you are helping out right here in your own community?

When I started Vivian Rose Boutique I told myself that I needed to make it a priority to give back to the community that has helped me start and grow a business. What is amazing about our little corner of the world is that we have some truly innovative, caring, and knowledgable people running stellar organizations geared to help nurture and care for others. Here are just a couple of things we have going in April. Both are easy and inexpensive! We invite you to help us with these causes. (Links to more info included!)

Week 2 Feed Challenge

April 10th-14th Vivian Rose Boutique will be doing the Week 2 Feed Challenge - Feeding Our Community Partners. What is it exactly?

Many of you may be familiar with the Backpack Food Program. This goes right along with it! We were challenged by Indulge Salon and Tanning to raise money for one week. 100% of the proceeds go to feeding local, hungry tummies.

Just $4 is enough to feed one student 2 breakfasts, 2 snacks, and 2 lunches - enough to supplement a child over a weekend. During this time, we will have a "Dip" Station set-up at Vivian Rose. Come in, and right at the Dip Station, you can have your credit/debit card charged, and the proceeds go directly to the Week 2 Feed Challenge. Dip once for $4, or keep dipping! Our goal is to raise $250 between April 10th- April 14th. (Bonus: April 14th is the date of the Boutiques in Bloom Event. Will you be there? You can easily donate that day!)

By raising $250, we can feed 62 students for a weekend! Plus, by doing this challenge, we are hoping to raise awareness. So, stop in to see us during this time and pay $4 to a great cause. You can shop if you want to, or just come in and donate - it's easy-peasy!

We will be keeping track in the store to see how much we raise during this duration - let's see how much we can do! Hunger affects more children than you can imagine. A grumbling belly has a hard time focusing and learning in school. This is just one little thing we can do to make a difference to a child in our community.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes (brought to us by the Zonta Club of Mankato) is an international Men's March in HIGH HEELS to raise awareness on the issue of violence against women.

This fun and FREE event will take place on Sunday, April 22nd at the Downtown Mankato Plaza from noon to 1pm. In lieu of a registration fee, just bring a cash donation or personal care donation items for CADA (Committee Against Domestic Abuse.)

Men, women, and children can come and raise awareness by walking. Mr. Rose will be walking in heels as well that day! (You don't have to walk in heels, but I am not going to tell him that...) It's going to be a fun event - and the whole family can participate. So, why not take a bit on a Sunday, grab a few donation items, and walk for a cause?

Hope to see you soon!
