What Scares Me Most

No, what scares me most is not porcelain dolls, or clowns, though those are pretty high up on my list. (Please send my apologies to those friends who were too afraid to click on my blog because of that image.) Question: how many of you had a porcelain doll collection when you were growing up? I sure did. Why? NO IDEA. They just kept accruing every year on my dresser. I digress...
What scares me most is not failure. If my little store doesn't make it in the world, that will be okay. It sure won't be for lack of trying every single avenue. I have a college degree and a solid work history. I can find a job again. I don't want to have to think about it, but I wouldn't be honest if I said that I didn't have a backup plan if this all goes South.
My real fear is the SHAME I will have to endure if I don't make this a success. As an entrepreneur, so much of YOU is tied up into what you have created. That is your blood, sweat, and tears. What does that mean if your venture fails? What does it mean for your confidence and self-esteem? So many people are rooting for me and for Vivian Rose Boutique. How can I ever face them again if I had to close? Does that mean I am a failure as a person? (Note we are NOT thinking about closing. I am just sharing my fears with ya, people.)
My Aunt Patricia gave me some great words of advice via text (because we are 21st century gals) the other day. She wrote, "You are successful even if it doesn't work out because you stepped up and looked fear and negativity and said (bleep) you!"
I think that these words are true for so many of us afraid to try something because of the SHAME we MIGHT feel. Let's make it a point to try and not let that kind of fear hold us back. Something really magical might be just beyond the comfort zone.
Love,
